Cure HSV Research (“we”) is the controller of the personal data collected on this site. Contact us at hello@curehsv.org.
What we collect
- Your first name and email address.
- Which list you joined: the trial volunteer list or research updates only.
- The date and time you signed up and the wording of the consent you gave, so we can prove consent.
We never ask about your health, diagnosis or HSV status.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use your name and email to send research updates, occasional fundraising news and, if you joined the volunteer list, the public details of HSV clinical trials when they start recruiting. Our legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
Joining the volunteer list could suggest you have an interest in HSV that relates to your health. We treat that as sensitive information, process it only with your explicit consent (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)), and never share it.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your data, and we never pass it to researchers, trial sponsors or companies. If a trial interests you, you contact them yourself. We use service providers to store the list and send emails, including our website host, Netlify, and our email service. They process data only on our instructions. Donations are processed by GoFundMe under GoFundMe’s own privacy policy; we don’t receive your card details.
International transfers
If our service providers store data outside the European Economic Area, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe we keep only your email on a suppression list so we never email you again by mistake.
Your rights
You can withdraw consent at any time and ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, or object to its use. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, or write to hello@curehsv.org. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD at cnpd.pt).

This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

Sign-up is for people aged 18 and over.
